School Opened Its First 11th Grade Batch in 2024. Only Student In The Batch Scores 87.4 percent in CBSE 12th Boards, 2026.

There were no classmates. No seniors who had taken it before, no cohort to define what normal preparation looked like. When I appeared for the CBSE Class 12 board examinations, I was not just the first student from my school to do so — I was the only one in the batch.

It was an unusual arrangement: a student and his teachers, sitting face-to-face, working through a two-year syllabus with no external reference point. My juniors treated me like a classmate.

In November 2025, I was selected for The Knowledge Society — a competitive global program for high-potential young people. I didn't enroll as finances didn't make it possible back then. In April 2026, after my boards were over, I applied again. I was selected again. I applied the second time knowing I had already been selected once. I applied because not enrolling the first time had nothing to do with whether I belonged there, and I wanted to make sure that was clear.

The First Pull Request: Simple code, But Got Merged

My first open source contribution was not technically complex. A script, submitted to a public repository, which was reviewed eventually and merged.

I don't overclaim it. But a first contribution is a line crossed — from someone who reads public code to someone who has changed it. That line was crossed in April 2026. The repository has my name in its history now, and the next contribution will be less simple.

About the Author

M y name is Raktimjyoti Sarma. In 2026, I appeared CBSE Class 12 board examinations alone from my school. Not alone in the sense of without support — alone in the sense that there was no one else in the batch. My school had never had a 12th grade before. I was the first student to get that far, and the only one.

Most of my school life had classmates, noise, and the usual reference points. My last two years did not. In 11th and 12th grade, I was the only student in my batch, and I was the first batch — no cohort to compare notes with, no senior who had been through it before. I am genuinely fine with that. I did not mind. Some people need the room to be full before they can work. I am not one of them.

What I do with that solitude is build things and think about how they fit together. When I built my first real project, I ended up extracting a second tool — Boron — from inside it because the underlying structure deserved its own existence. That is how I tend to think — systems before features, architecture before output.

And when something needs to happen, I do not wait for the ideal conditions. I quit JEE midway through 12th grade because the comparison was obvious. I cold-called a school after the email went unanswered. I called my favourite teacher back after my school lost him. The risks were real. They seemed worth taking.
